Default is the game 'dumbed' down when you play with henchmen?

i did a search and couldn't seem to come up with anything directly answering my question, sooo...

i was doing the Summit Beastmasters quest thinger earlier where you have to kill the level 28 huge guy.. and i did it with henchmen, yet couldn't do it with humans, a few of them said it was because the monsters were 'dumbed' down when playing with henchmen, but it seemed like his health was depleting at the same speed when we were hitting him.

so my theory is we didn't have enough variation in our party. anyone know for sure? :]

Monster stats and AI are independant of your party composition. I guess you jsut got stck with a bad party =/

nope but when you play with humans usually your party is dumbed down.

i generally had much better success with all henchmen parties than with all human parties...they seem to know what their job is!

Until the monk decides to fight in melee. (Although a lot of human controlled monks seem to do this as well. )

Or if your melee henchies decide to go and run into a bunch of neaby mobs you're trying to avoid because there's too many to live against.

Thumbs up Aggro Range

I noticed the henchmen running to battle when I would try to pull a mob with my bow so I just get the creature in aggro range and pull back from other mobs. Seems to make my life a tad easier if I can pull back to the henchman. Does not always work but YMMV.

well i have a mesmer and a monk and when my monk henchman decides to melee i just sic all the henchies on whomever the monk is attacking. when i play a mesmer i often don't bring a res skill so i have to keep my monk alive, and so far it's been quite easy to do. generally the monk will melee only if she gets attacked, and isn't it our job to keep mobs off our monks anyway? mobs in this game almost always go for my monk first, so i am always ready to pull aggro off her.

npc's are predictable, and in that sense they are dependable...the same cannot be said for random human teammates.

i have done every mission up to frost gate with all henchman teams, and have never failed and had to redo one yet.

Ayuh, henchies are predictable. You know what they're bound to screw up on, and what they can handle.

People suck. =P
